Is the course USATF Certified? Yes, and you can access the certification at http://www.usatf.org/events/courses/maps/showMap.asp?courseID=CA08049RS

Do you offer discounts or free entry to participants or groups? Even the volunteers who work all year long to organize the race pay in full for their race entry fee.  The proceeds from the race are donated back to the community and we do not offer discounts or 'comp' entries for anyone.

What Teams does the race recognize?

We offer 2-person team categories with Team Results in these categories only:

Mother-Daughter
Mother-Son
Father-Daughter
Father-Son
Brother-Brother
Brother-Sister
Sister-Sister

If you are running with a group of friends or co-workers or charity, have fun!  We do not officially recognize or time any team categories except the above.

Is there a place to check a bag?

Sorry, no.

How do I fasten the timing strip to my shoe?

The Manhattan 10K is timed using a disposable timing system and all partipants receive their timing device on their bib number.  The timing strip is attached to the bib and MUST BE TAKEN OFF THE BIB AND FASTENED ON TO THE PARITIPANT'S SHOE in order to be timed and cross the timing mats at both the start and finish of the race..  .

Simply pull the timing strip off the bib number, and loop it through your shoe laces and securely fasten it by removing the double faced tape on the strip forming a secure loop through your laces.  You must have you timing strip on your shoe in order to be timed.  There is no back up system.

Pin your bib number to your chest/front and securely loop your timing system strap to your shoe.

No timing strip on the shoe, No Time!  Partipants must cross timing mats at start and finish in order to be timed.

How is finish time recorded and awards determined?

Electronic timing is the most accurate timing system available and allows your time to start when you reach the starting line, instead of when the gun goes off. Age group awards are determined by strip timing device time.

All strip timing devices are pre-activated and do not require race day activation. To be timed, you must wear your timing strip on your shoe (see above for instructions on how to attach strip)  and step on the mat at the start and finish lines.

Sorry but NO TIMING STRIP ON THE SHOE, NO TIME and make sure you wear it and cross the start and finish time mats.  There is no alternative timing system and participants must be in starting area at 7:30AM gun time as the timing mats are not left on indefinitely and participants must cross the timing mats prior to them being shut off in order to be included in race results.

Why wasn't I asked for my shirt size/style on the application? We no longer ask for t-shirt sizes on the application because the numbers have been inconsistent with actual shirt distribution for several years now.  We have found that the most accurate estimation is achieved by using the previous year's distribution numbers and adjusting for excess and/or shortage.  This method helps us to follow shifts in the trend and has proven to be more accurate for the past 3 years.

Is There Race Day Registration?

No. Please register early. See race flyer for details regarding on-line and in-person registration. Is there a shuttle for parking?

No, we do not offer a parking shuttle for the race.  Race weekend the Hometown Fair offers a shuttle but we are not affiliated with the Fair nor is there a drop off near the start like in years past.  For the Fair shuttle, please go to http://www.mbfair.org/  We are not affiliated with this shuttle and getting to the race on time is the participant's reponsibility and no finish times will be adjusted for not arriving on time to the start

We recommend being dropped off, riding your bike or street parking throughout the community east or south of the race course.  Please see the race course map on this website for more information and note that streets on the course close at 6AM so you will not be able to 'cut through' the race course area after that time.
