Is there a place to check a bag?

Sorry, no.

How do I wear my timing chip?

Zip ties are provided in the envelope you were sent/given your chip in.  Follow the instructions on the outside of the envelope and thread the plastic zip tie through the chip and your shoe lace, then through itself (sort of like threading a plastic needle) and secure the chip to your shoe.

Volunteers will be in the finish area to remove the chip from your shoe.

Safety pins were provided for securing your bib number to the front of your top or pants.  The plastic zip tie is for securing chip to your shoe, please do not use safety pins to secure the chip.

We will have extra zip ties at the information table on the Greenbelt at the start area.

How is finish time recorded and awards determined?

ChampionChip timing is new to the 2007 Manhattan Beach 10K. Chip timing is the most accurate timing system available and allows your time to start when you reach the starting line, instead of when the gun goes off. Age group awards are determined by chip time.

All chips are pre-activated and do not require race day activation. To be timed, you must wear your chip and step on the mat at the start and finish lines. ALL CHIPS MUST BE SURRENDERED AT THE FINISH LINE

Sorry but NO CHIP, NO TIME so make sure you wear it and cross the start and finish time mats.  There is no alternative timing system.

Why wasn't I asked for my shirt size/style on the application? We no longer ask for t-shirt sizes on the application because the numbers have been inconsistent with actual shirt distribution for several years now.  We have found that the most accurate estimation is achieved by using the previous year's distribution numbers and adjusting for excess and/or shortage.  This method helps us to follow shifts in the trend and has proven to be more accurate for the past 3 years.
